Key Terms for Research:- Period of Rotation: how long does it take to rotate on its axis one time? Period of Revolution: how long does it take to travel around the Sun? Orbit: for Sun - how far from the center of the Milky Way? for Planets - How far from the Sun? Location: 1st, 3rd, last from the Sun? Size/Mass: kg Terrestrial: rocky surface Gas Giant: very large, no solid surface Atmosphere: is it surrounded by a blanket of gases? If so, what kind of gas? Physical Properties: other characteristics that are different that those of the other planets Satellite: a natural or man-made body surrounding an object
When research is done ...1. Cut each card apart. 2. Fold each one in half. 3. On one half of the blank side, draw a picture of the celestial body and label it. 4. On the next two blank pages in your science notebook, glue these IN ORDER starting with the Sun on the left. (See image)
